Saints Row has a problem with black women in particular of all the women in the franchise - aside from Aisha Kia and Asha, there are no prominent black female women in the entire franchise with Aisha being killed off, Kia being a villain and Asha only being introduced right at the end. If Volition chose to stick with killing Lin in Saints Row 1, then I feel they should've spared Aisha in Saints Row 2 and kept her alive as a later Saints member. Personally I feel Volition should've chosen to kill Dex off in Saints Row 1 and spare Lin instead as the Saints' longest serving female member and one of the franchise's stronger characters. At the time I understood this because obviously the franchise had plans for Julius and Troy playing pivotal roles in the second game and Johnny Gat being the fan favourite but it was a mistake trying to turn Dex into a bad guy then having him disappear after the first game almost entirely. Lin was the only female Saint lieutenant in the first game and was promptly killed off. The Saints Row games have not done a good job of portraying its female characters as strong women or giving them as strong character development as it does with its male characters.
